Our website offers an online booking facility where our customers can enter their requirements, select a vehicle, and pay by credit card via our secure SSL-encrypted payment system. Alternatively, simply call one of our friendly sales team if you require any further guidance or help in making your vehicle rental choice.
A deposit will be taken from you when you arrange the booking via the internet. Bookings that are made via the telephone will be secured with a credit card number only and full payment will be taken on the day you collect the vehicle.
You will also receive a confirmation email containing the details of your reservation.
You will need a full valid driver's license, pay a $500 security deposit with cash/debit card or $300 security deposit via your credit card, and also pay the total rental amount in advance. 

You will also need to provide the following documents:
* Australian Licence Holders - Please bring 2 forms of ID. You may bring your driver’s licence with your current address. We also require a phone bill, electricity bill, or bank statement showing your current address. 
* Overseas Licence Holders:  Please bring 3  forms of ID, which includes your driver’s licence, Passport, and proof of current address, ie. utility bills etc. If you cannot provide this, Star Rentals cannot rent you a vehicle.
If you do not have a credit card but you do have a Visa or MasterCard debit card you can hire a car but you will need to reduce your insurance liability (please refer to our insurance page for details).
The rate includes standard insurance but is subject to an excess. Please refer to ''Insurance" below for details.
Our rates include GST, Basic Insurance, 24 Hour Roadside Assistance and the included km.

Payment for your car rental is to be made at the commencement of the hire. We will gladly accept Cash, Visa, MasterCard and EFTPOS. A copy of the contract is given to you upon completion of the paperwork and will show what method you used and also can be used as an invoice for tax purposes. If you sign your paperwork at the office we will give you a copy of any transaction processed through our eftpos terminal. Visa and Mastercard attracts 2% surcharge. 
Pickups are currently from Dandenong, in the South Eastern suburbs of Victoria but we also provide a drop off at your location for an extra fee.
Should the Hirer decide to voluntarily return the rental car (including car keys) and accessories to our office in Dandenong, prior to the expiry of the hire term, the Hirer will not be entitled to a refund.
There is a minimum 48 hours notice required for extensions. We cannot guarantee extensions during peak seasons, however we will do our best to accommodate your request.

The Cancellation fee that applies to a confirmed car rental reservation is based on a percentage of the total rental costs:

100% of the total rental if cancelled on the day of pick up.

50% of the total rental if cancelled 1 day prior to the pick-up date.

All other cancellations are subject to 10% of the total rental.


If you are running late in returning the rental vehicle, we will allow 1 hour of grace period. If you give us 48 hours notice that you wish to extend your booking, we'll extend it at the same rate as your current hire. If you return it late without giving us any warning this is called an 'unauthorized late return' and is charged at $25 an hour for up to 4 hours, then $80 per day thereafter in addition to your current daily hire rate.

Yes, additional drivers must be nominated and a $10 fee is payable per driver. 
Vehicles may be driven outside of Victoria. This must be requested in advance and is subject to approval. 
We offer both recent and older model vehicles.
Yes, you do need to pay for any tolls or traffic infringements incurred and where possible it is best to pay these yourself and avoid an infringement notice being sent to us at Star Rentals. If we are required to charge a toll fee or traffic infringement to your credit card, a $25 administration fee will be added to cover our processing time.

If you are in the unfortunate event of an accident with your rental vehicle, we will ask that you do not admit liability in any circumstance. If you are unsure always obtain a police report that will help our insurance company to gauge who was at fault. We also have a complete form on the reverse of your rental agreement that will prompt you to ask the correct questions we need answered to make a claim on your behalf. All accidents must be reported to Star Rentals the day it happens, you will also have to provide complete details of the accident to us. We do not guarantee to replace the vehicle if you are liable for the accident.
Excess charges can be reduced by purchasing a further insurance called ‘Reduced Damage Liability, (RDL)’.

Drivers Over 25 years or over of age: Standard Excess: $2000, 
                                                                 Reduced Damage Liability: $700

Drivers Under 25 years of age:          Standard Excess: $3800, 
                                                                Reduced Damage Liability: $2000
We are very confident about the quality of our rental cars and our team of mechanics consistently do everything they can to make sure you have no problems. Please contact Star Rentals in case of a breakdown, you will need to quote the vehicle registration number. Please note that this policy is FREE for MECHANICAL breakdowns only. All other call outs will be subject to relevant charges.
